Grampians Health Horsham & Dimboola – Aboriginal Hospital Liaison Officer

Office Hours: Monday to Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm
Grampians Health Horsham & Dimboola's Aboriginal Hospital Liaison Officer (AHLO) plays a vital role in supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) patients within the health system. The AHLO serves as a key advocate, ensuring that patients receive culturally appropriate care by liaising between patients and healthcare professionals. Their work includes coordinating referrals to both mainstream and ATSI-specific health services, developing care plans, and ensuring that patients' needs and preferences are respected. Additionally, the AHLO works closely with local community-controlled organisations and government departments to facilitate holistic care planning and service delivery. This role also involves promoting cultural awareness within the hospital and supporting the development of services that are accessible to Indigenous communities.
